Upper East Region yet to receive relief items from NADMO after floods

A correspondent for Happy FM in the Upper East region of Ghana, Mosses Apobona has disclosed that, after continuous downpour for a week which caused severe flooding, relief items from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) are yet to arrive for the affected people in the region.

Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’, he stated that, “out of the 15 districts in the region, 13 have been severely affected by the floods but the National Disaster Management Organization is yet to provide the affected areas with relief items.”

According to him, he has two sets of information reaching him at the moment. The first suggests that, the regional coordinator for NADMO is now in the Capital, Accra trying to secure relief items for those affected by the floods whilst he gathers from the second that between three (3) to five (5) truckloads of relief items are now enroute to the region.

Severe rainfalls in the Upper East Region over the past few weeks has wreaked havoc to homes and large tracts of farmlands in the region. Currently the Regional Minister, Municipal Chief Executives and some parliamentarians and their party executives for these areas are doing their best to support their constituents.
