Veep Bawumia commends Sports Minister for National Fitness Day success

Ghana’s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has lauded Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif for executing the maiden edition of the National Fitness Day.

Dr.Bawumia acknowledged the efforts of the Sports Minister in ensuring the National Fitness Day was a success.

The National Fitness Day is an initiative launched by the Vice President to urge Ghanaians to adopt healthy lifestyles which “means better health which really means better productivity”.

The event which was launched a few weeks ago at the Accra Sports Stadium witnessed a major turn out with various representatives from keep fit clubs in Accra, top government officials, the Ga Mantse, students sports enthusiasts, fans among others taking part in the event.

Dr. Bawumia expressed his satisfaction with Sports Minister Ussif for pulling the maiden edition off.

“Today I really have to thank the Minister for Youth and Sports for this execution which is brilliant” the Vice President stated in his address.

On his part, the Sports Minister added the main point of call for observing the exercise will change by stating “we will be rotating from one region to another across the country.”

He thanked the Vice president for being the visionary behind this important national exercise which seeks to promote the wellbeing of Ghanaians.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports’ heartfelt gratitude goes to the Vice President, H. E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Ga Mantse, HRM King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, and my brother, the Minister of Works and Housing, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, Majority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh, Prof. Azumah Nelson, Lexis Bill, various regional ministers, heads of sports federations, keep fit clubs, and everyone who came out to support and participate in the maiden edition.

“I will also like to express my gratitude to the various Regional Coordinating Councils for their respective efforts in the organisation of the National Fitness Day in the various regions. 

“To our sponsors:  Niche Cocoa Industry Ltd, Decathlon Ghana, Verna Natural Mineral Water, Mawums Limited (ML), Rana Motors Ghana, JMPL Mine Support Services, Coca-Cola Ghana Limited, Kenpong Travel and Tours, Ekumfi Fruits & Juices Ltd, IRisk Management Limited, and to all media outlets for the support offered this national campaign. 

“I urge all citizens to make an effort to participate in subsequent National Fitness Day for our own benefits.

The National Fitness Day is to be held on the second Saturday every month and the program is to be held across communities in Ghana.

Ga Mantse Tackie Tsuru II, International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Azumah Nelson and National Sports Authority Boss Professor Peter Twumasi participated in today’s program.
