VIDEO: Where Are They?: Ex-RTU striker reveals how he was nicknamed Weah after Liberia’s president

Former Real Tamale United striker, Alhassan Weah, has disclosed how he got the name Weah.

According to him, he was nicknamed Weah by his teammates and friends because his style of play was similar to that of the incumbent Liberia President George Weah at the time he was  playing in Europe.

Alhassan in an interview on Happy FM’s Where Are They program, revealed for the first time how he adopted the name Weah throughout his playing career.

“It was at Savannah Stars that I got the name Weah”.

“It was when Liberia President George Weah was playing in Europe and was a giant in the game at the time. So when I was playing people likened my style to that of George Weah and that is how I got the name”.
