The Volta River Authority (VRA) has denied any involvement in the emergency landing of a helicopter in Nkawkaw, Eastern Region, on Monday, August 11.
In a statement released Wednesday, August 13, VRA clarified that it neither owns nor operates aircraft, distancing itself from media reports that wrongly attributed the helicopter to the Authority.
“We would like to state unequivocally that the said helicopter does not belong to VRA and neither does VRA operate aviation services”, the statement contained.
The helicopter, which landed due to poor visibility caused by bad weather, is owned by Volta River Aviation Limited (VRAL), a separate company registered with the Petroleum Commission.
“The mandate of the Volta River Authority is to provide affordable reliable electricity to power economies and add value to lives. Our mandate does not include the provision of aviation services”, the VRA clarified in its statement.
VRA urged media outlets to verify information before publication and directed inquiries to its Corporate Affairs department.
