WAFU 2019 : Shafiu stars for Ghana as Black Stars B beat Ivory Coast 3-1 to reach final

Shafiu Mumuni scored a hat-trick to help Ghana book a place in the final of the WAFU Cup.

The AshantiGold striker became the first player to score a hat trick in the WAFU tournament as Ghana defeated Ivory Coast by 3-0 in the first semi- final game played on Tuesday.

Shafiu scored the first goal of the game in the 30th minute after a Joseph Esso cross was split by the goalkeeper and in the defender’s attempt to clear the ball, it bounced on Shafiu into the net

The Ivorians nearly got an equalizer in the 45th minute but a timely intervention from Hearts of Oak defender Mohammed Alhassan prevented Ghana from conceding in the first half.

Shafiu quickly increased the lead for Ghana right form kick off in the second half after connecting a cross from Augustine Okraku to make it 2-0.

Shafiu got his hat-trick in 49th minute after heading a cross from Anabila to make it 3-0 for Ghana. He has scored four goals in the competition which makes him the tournaments highest scorer

Eric Antwi committed an error as Abubakar Doumbia free kick went straight into the net from a free kick in the 77th minute to give the Ivorians a consolation

Ghana will play the winner of the game between Senegal and Mali in the finals and a win will see the Black Stars win the trophy three times in a row.
