The Airport to Legon route in Accra has flooded after a rainstorm on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, and has been declared unsafe for commuters.

A video making rounds online shows areas of Spanner and Shangrilla completely covered by rain water, giving no access of any sort to commuters.

All commuters of the frequently used road are now seeking alternative routes to their various destinations. This, in hand has caused a traffic jam in all areas of Accra.

This situation confirms the earlier warnings from the Ghana Meteorological Agency about moderate heavy rainstorms on May 21, 2024. Accra joins a list of areas in Ghana affected by these rains, including Tema, Koforidua, Begoro, Aflao, Keta, Anloga, Ho, Akatsi, and Somanya.
