Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team has secured qualification for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo following a strong performance at the World Relays in Guangzhou.

The team finished second in the second qualifying round with a time of 38.32 seconds—narrowly missing out on first place but earning their ticket to the global event. The achievement marks a significant milestone for Ghanaian athletes and underscores the team’s dedication and competitive spirit.

The relay squad—Barnabas Aggerh, Joseph Paul Amoah, Mustapha Bokpin, and Ibrahim Fuseini—displayed remarkable teamwork and speed throughout the race. A thrilling anchor leg by Ibrahim Fuseini nearly secured victory for Ghana, as they finished just behind France, who topped the heat with an impressive 38.31 seconds. The tightly contested race highlighted Ghana’s growing potential to challenge the world’s elite in sprinting.

France set the pace in the first heat of the men’s 4x100m repechage, while Korea impressed with a national record of 38.51 seconds to place third. The outstanding performances from all three teams reflect the high level of competition at the World Relays and underscore the significance of Ghana’s qualification.

The top two teams from each repechage heat qualified for the upcoming World Championships, making Ghana’s second-place finish a notable accomplishment. Their qualification not only boosts national pride but also serves as inspiration for young athletes across Ghana. With this success, the team has proven itself a rising force on the global athletics stage.
