WAEC to release 2025 BECE private candidate results today The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates will be released by the end of today, Friday, September 5. Speaking at a media briefing, WAEC’s Public Relations Officer, John Kapi, confirmed the release timeline and shared key statistics. “A total of 1,661 private candidates, 858 males and 803 females, registered for this year’s BECE. This marks a 19.49% increase compared to last year,” he stated. According to John Kapi, the provisional results for school candidates were released earlier on August 23, with 603,328 students participating from 20,395 schools. WAEC noted a 5.99% rise in school candidate numbers. Kapi also addressed examination integrity, saying, “Candidates who infringed on the rules governing the conduct of the examination were appropriately sanctioned following investigations and the advice of the Council’s relevant committee.”

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare was spotted earlier today directing traffic at the Ridge Roundabout.

The IGP who was in shorts and a t-shirt joined traffic police to direct traffic at the roundabout which was one of the major routes leading to the Black Stars Square where President-Elect, John Dramani Mahama was being sworn in.

Although some netizens have praised his actions, some have questioned motive behind it.

It has become a matter of public discussion as to whether the IGP will be retained or the Mahama led administration will seek to replace him with another individual of their choice.

There have been rumours of massive shakeups in the public sector as the NDC will seek to replace heads of state institutions and security agencies with persons with affiliation and allegiance to the party.
