The 2020 Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency John Dumelo has called on the President Akuffo Addo to cancel all 66th Independence Day celebrations earmarked to be observed across the country.
The entrepreneur in a twitter post based his comments on the current economic state of the country.
According to him, marking the day in a televised update from the president will prevent massive expenditure.
“Greetings @NAkufoAddo, respectfully we are in hard times, can you please cancel all state, regional and district Independence Day celebrations? You can do your usual “fellow Ghanaians” broadcast on tv. This will save us millions of cedis. Thanks so much”he suggested.
The 66th Independence Day celebration is to be held on the 6th of March 2023 at Ho in the Volta Region.
The ceremony is scheduled to be marked with national and regional activities.
President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo is expected to address the nation during the ceremony.
