Story By: Ahashie Judeliver Eli

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt E.S Okraku, has emphasized a newfound openness to ideas and strategies from all stakeholders aimed at reviving Ghanaians’ passion for football.

At a press conference in Kumasi on Wednesday, Kurt conveyed the imperative of unity for Ghanaian football’s resurgence. He stated, “Collaboration and sharing of innovative ideas are vital for our football’s progress. As leaders of our sport, we are receptive and ready to listen to all suggestions. Our executive council members and I extend a warm invitation to all for constructive contributions.”

Highlighting the significance of grassroot football development, Kurt affirmed ongoing investments in the sector, assuring that these efforts would soon reflect in the national teams’ performance. “The fruits of our football investments will undoubtedly manifest in the achievements of our national teams,” he added.

However, criticism persists regarding the national teams’ lackluster performances under Kurt’s leadership. The recent premature exit of the Black Stars from the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast marks another setback.

Over the past three AFCON editions, the team has won just once in ten matches. Additionally, a revolving door of five different coaches within five years, culminating in Chris Hughton’s dismissal following the latest disappointing tournament, reflects administrative instability.

Currently, the GFA headed by a five(5) man committee is actively seeking a new head coach for the Black Stars
