Owusu Amankwah, a leading voice in the New Ptriotic Party (NPP), has issued a stern warning to the National DemocraticCongress (NDC), cautioning them against repeating the violent tactics seen during the recent parliamentary election rerun in Ablekuma North.
Speaking to Happyghana.com ahead of the upcoming Akwatia elections, Amankwah declared that the NPP would not remain passive if the NDC attempts similar disruptions. “If they try what happened in Ablekuma North in Akwatia, we will clap back,” he said, signaling the party’s readiness to defend its interests.
According to him, the NPP is highly optimistic about maintaining the Akwatia seat and all they want is a peaceful election but not a repetition of what happened in the Ablekuma North constituency .
“We are hoping and praying that the Akwatia by-election should be peaceful, free and fair, nevertheless if any of NPPs sympathisers get hurt in the hands of the NDC, they will clap for us”, he emphasized.
We are going to prepare ourselves very well just in case NDC misbehaves, we would not stand aloof, he cautioned.
Amankwah’s comments reflect a broader call for peaceful and fair elections, while also putting political opponents on notice.
