Where Are They? Ex-Berekum Arsenal star advises footballers to consider other careers

Former Ghanaian footballer, Baba Mumuni, has advised upcoming footballers not to solely rely on football, but venture into any other business that can guarantee them a comfortable life when they retire.

Baba Mumuni was sharing his experience on Happy 98.9FM’s Special program Where Are They? with Ohene-Bampoe Brenya.
According to him, even though football was his passion, he took education very seriously which has enabled him to get a place in the Ghana Police Service after hanging up his boot.

Mumuni in the interview advised young footballers to combine both football and education in order to guarantee them a safe retirement.

“Don’t rely on football alone. Education is very important as well. Football has a limited life span and after that without any skill life, it will be very unbearable for you”.

Baba Mumuni who played in the domestic league for several years said he had lost interest in the local game because the standards have fallen.

“I don’t watch the local game anymore. I once visited a venue to watch a Ghana Premier League game and that was where I lost interest. Previously, we had players like Stephen Oduro, Charles Taylor who played to make the fans happy even if there were no goals in the game”
“Currently when you watch the game, there is no sort of excitement or any player to watch; so for me, I prefer watching Barcelona”

Baba Mumuni, currently with the Ghana Police Service, played for Premier League sides such as Berekum Chelsea, Real Tamale United, Bofoakwa Tano, Tema Youth, and many others before hanging up his boots.
