A 50-year old Ghanaian woman who bears the name Regina Awuku, has disclosed her reasons for wanting to commit suicide over GHC350.00.

According to her, life has been very unfair to her right from the beginning and after a couple of deliberations, she concluded that suicide is the only option.

She described her life journey as one full of pain, sadness, sorrow and full of debts.

Talking to Rev. Nyansa Boakwa on Happy 98.9FM’s ‘Obra Yi’ Edition of NsemPii she said, “All my life, I’ve been hawking oranges and selling roasted plantain together with roasted yam and groundnuts to take care of my children”.

She continued that, she does not want her children to experience the pain and suffering she has experienced, hence, at some point when things got hard, she had to go borrow money from one of the women who supplied her corn.

“For some months now I’ve been unable to go out because she has been asking for her money and I have been unable to pay her because I don’t have it yet” she lamented.

Regina disclosed that it was due to this reason and her inability to take care of her two children that she decided to commit suicide until a voice spoke to her advising her to stop.

“Apart from the GHC350.00, I owe other people as well but they have agreed to give me some time to pay so I just want to pay this woman and get her off my back else I feel my life will not be worth living”, she told Rev. Nyansa.

With the help of Rev. Nyansa Boakwa and his team, they were able to raise more than the amount she was owing and have also promised to help her pay the rest of her debt and help her grow her business.
