Women’s Special Competition: Ladystrikers FC stun Hasaacas, Fabulous Ladies share spoils with Ashtown Ladies as defeated Prisons Ladies bemoan officiating

The much-awaited Normalisation Committee’s Special Competition for women recorded some interesting results in Saturday’s opening fixtures. 

The competition which is expected to keep players and female clubs active and for an official resumption of competitive female football activities saw plenty of action on Saturday.

There was a local derby in Group A as Premier League giants Fabulous Ladies welcomed Ashtown Ladies to the Wesley College Park.

The highly anticipated encounter ended stalemate but spectators who trooped to the venue enjoyed themselves despite heavy downpour as both sides exhibited fantastic display.

In Group B, coach Yusif Basigi and his girls were pipped 2-1 by Ladystrikers at the Robert Mensah Park.

Hasaacas Ladies got a consolation through Perpetual Agyekum after Gladys Amfobea and Gifty Addai Blake had shot Ladystrikers up by 2-0. Black Queens duo Linda Eshun and Janet Egyir featured featured for the Sekondi-based outfit.

In the Group C, Pearlpia Ladies picked their first maximum points as they inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Prisons Ladies at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium thanks to a brace from Black Maidens star Safia Abdul Rahaman.

Prisons Ladies grabbed a consolation couresy Edith Sasako.

Prisons Ladies officials and players expressed their dissatisfaction over poor officiating by referee Dora Agominaat.

The remaining games of the groups will come off on Sunday.

Venue: UEW Ajumako Park Match: Soccer Intellectuals vs Sea Lions

Venue: Teshie MATS Park Match: Police Ladies vs Halifax Ladies

Venue: Valley View University Park Match: Ampem Darkoa vs Northern Ladies

Venue: Prempeh College Park Match: Kumasi Sports Academy vs Supreme Ladies.
