President John Mahama has appointed renowned sports journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah as the new Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA). His appointment marks a significant milestone in Ghanaian sports, given his extensive experience and passion for sports development.

Ankrah, an internationally recognized journalist, is widely respected for his contributions to Ghanaian sports, particularly his role in elevating Beach Soccer to the global stage. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a professional and innovative figure in the industry.

At the NSA, Ankrah is expected to spearhead key reforms, particularly in the management of the country’s sporting infrastructure. He will collaborate closely with Sports and Recreation Minister, Hon. Kofi Adams, to enhance sports coordination and development across Ghana. His primary focus will be on improving national sports management systems, fostering unity through sports, and promoting professionalism in the sector.

His appointment comes at a crucial time, as the NSA faces criticism over its inability to maintain national stadiums to acceptable standards.
