A man in his early 20s has died while attempting to save children who were swept away by strong waves during an end-of-year picnic at Kokrobite Beach.
The deceased, M.G. Enoch Abram from the Budumburam District of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, was attending the Kasoa West District Adventist Men’s Ministry (AMM) outing with friends from a neighboring district when the incident occurred.
Witnesses say several children were caught in the rough surf, prompting Enoch to jump into the water to rescue them.
He successfully saved one child but tragically lost his life in the process.
After 30 to 40 minutes of prayers and search efforts, his body was retrieved and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Community members and friends have described Enoch’s actions as a selfless and courageous act, honoring him as a hero whose bravery will not be forgotten.
