The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially closed nominations for its presidential primaries, with ten out of the eleven flagbearer hopefuls successfully filing their nomination forms.

The Director of Elections, Evans Nimako, revealed that 10 people have successfully filed their nomination forms.

He added that one person who picked nomination forms, Nana Oppong Odeneho, in a letter to the elections committee, communicated his decision to withdraw from the race before the close of the exercise.

The last candidate to submit his forms was Joe Ghartey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan, who expressed his determination to make a significant impact on the political landscape.

The closure of nominations for the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries marks a significant step in the party’s electoral process. Joe Ghartey, successfully filed his nomination forms, presenting his vision for the NPP’s future and his plans for the nation.

The upcoming primaries will determine who will represent the party in the 2024 presidential election, with each candidate striving to gain support from party members and demonstrate their suitability for the role of President.

Accompanied by a large group of enthusiastic supporters, Joe Ghartey arrived at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down to complete the necessary formalities.

The seasoned legal practitioner, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, highlighted the importance of unity and inclusivity in his campaign.

Mr. Ghartey pledged to prioritise economic growth, combat corruption, and improve living standards for all Ghanaians. Drawing from his experience introducing the ‘Justice For All’ program during the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, he envisioned an NPP that promotes equal opportunities for all citizens.

With a background as the former Minister of Railways Development and Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Ghartey aims to revitalise the NPP and create opportunities for young people and party executives to serve Ghana, should he win the primaries and subsequently be elected President in 2024.

The upcoming primaries will determine who will represent the party in the 2024 presidential election, with each candidate striving to gain support from party members and demonstrate their suitability for the role of President.
