Ghana makes giant strides at ICC World Cricket League qualifier

The senior national cricket team made a giant start to life in their ICC World Cricket League qualifier this morning with 113 runs over Sierra Leone in Benoni today.
The Black Batters opted to bat after they lost the toss in opening game of the One Day International (ODI) tournament.
Ghana made 179 runs all out in 42.5 overs in the first inning. The bowling prowess of Ghana forced Sierra Leone to manage only 66 runs all out in 32.5 overs.
The opening day victory is expected to serve as a tonic to inspire the team in their next fixture against rival Nigeria tomorrow in the 50 over match at the Willowmoore Park B Field in Benoni.
Expert bowler of Ghana David Ankrah won the player of the match.

In other games for the six team tournament, Botswana won by 81 runs against Zambia while Nigeria suffered a 148 runs defeat to Tanzania.
The winner of this tournament will qualify for the ICC World Cricket League Division 5 in a yet to he announced venue and date.
