German Bundesliga side Schalke must pay at least 20 million Euros if they are to sign their Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman on a permanent contract from Chelsea.
The Blues will seek to recoup the full investment they made in signing Rahman from German side Augsburg in 2015.
The Bundesliga have hinted that they will approach the English club to sign their Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman on a permanent deal.
The 23-year-old joined Schalke on a season-long loan in August last year and paid a fee of approximately 500,000 Euros to sign the left-back.
With the loan deal coming to an end in two months’ time, Schalke have expressed interest in keeping the Ghana international on a permanent deal.
“If it’s possible, we’d like to keep him,” Schalke general manager Christian Heidel said when asked about the asked the future of Baba Rahman.
Schalke must now fork out the 20 million Euros Chelsea paid to sign the Ghana star when they signed him from Augsburg two years ago.
The Ghana international, 22, made 51 appearances for Bundesliga side Augsburg before moving to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal in August 2015.
Rahman made his Chelsea debut in the Champions League and went on to make 23 appearances for the Blues.
His return to Germany re-united him with former Augsburg manager Markus Weinzierl.
