2014 World Cup: Kevin-Prince Boateng “disrespected” Kwesi Appiah – Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah Gyan, the former captain of the Black Stars, has revealed the reason behind Kevin-Prince Boateng’s expulsion from the team during the 2014 World Cup. Gyan explained that coach Kwasi Appiah made the decision because he had reached a breaking point with Boateng’s disrespectful behavior.

Gyan’s comments came in response to Boateng’s recent criticism, where he expressed disappointment over the lack of support he received when he stood up for his teammates. Gyan clarified that the team had indeed supported Boateng privately, but the coach’s decision was a result of Boateng repeated disrespect towards him.

Gyan took to Twitter to explain the situation, stating that the incident between Boateng and the coach occurred on the training grounds in front of everyone. The coach felt that Boateng had disrespected him multiple times with his choice of words. Gyan also mentioned that the team had defended Boateng behind the scenes on several occasions.

However, on that particular day, the coach had reached his limit and reacted to Boateng’s behavior. Gyan noted that it was the first time he had seen Appiah get angry and respond in such a way. Ultimately, Boateng’s expulsion from the team was the coach’s decision, and Gyan shared this truth as the captain of the team.
