The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAAG) has applauded the NDC-led administration for fulfilling promises made to traders in the 2025 budget presentation by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

In an interview with Happy Kaseɛbɔ, the President of TAAG, Kwadwo Amoteng said that before the budget statement, they had conveyed traders’ challenges to the government through several discussions. The government assured them that these issues would be addressed.

Among the challenges faced by traders was the E-levy which has been abolished.

Since the majority of TAAG’s members are women, the government also promised to establish a women’s bank to support their trading activities. This promise was fulfilled with an allocation of GHC 51.3 million to fund the bank.

While not all demands were included in the budget, TAAG commended the finance minister for abolishing some taxes and expressed optimism that these measures would promote economic growth and business development.

However, the group says it will expect the government to reduce import duties and lower the dollar rate used in calculating duty at the ports..
