Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team claimed a bronze medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after producing a superb performance in the final.
Ghana’s first Commonwealth Games podium finish since 1974.
The Ghanaian quartet crossed the finish line in a season-best time of 38.13 seconds, narrowly missing the national record of 38.09 seconds by just 0.04 seconds.
Although Ghana initially finished behind Canada, the West Africans were elevated to third place after the Canadian team was disqualified for a lane violation, handing Ghana a well-deserved place on the podium.
The bronze medal is another significant achievement for Ghana’s sprint relay programme, with the team’s performance underlining its consistency on the international stage.
Coming within fractions of the national record also highlights the squad’s growing potential ahead of future global competitions.
The result adds another medal to Ghana’s tally to three at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and serves as a testament to the country’s continued progress in athletics, particularly in the sprint relay events.
