Management of leading fast food firm, Marwako have intimated that they are saddened by the nine-months jailed sentenced of one of their supervisors, Jihad Chaaban who was reported to have assaulted an employee, Evelyn Boakye.
Below is the full statement from Marwako:
The Management of Marwako Fast Food Ltd wishes to reiterate its utmost respect for the Ghanaian judicial process in the wake of the sentencing of one of our staff members, Mr. Jihad Chaaban, following an altercation with another member of staff.
Inasmuch as we are a responsible corporate citizen and demonstrated our reverence for the judicial process by cooperating fully with the process, we are naturally saddened by the latest twist.
As management, we had hoped that the unfortunate and unacceptable misunderstanding between two of our staff members would have been settled amicably out of court, with all medical bills and compensation due the victim settled. In spite of our sadness, we respect the judgement and will continue to support both Mr. Chaaban, if he decides to appeal, as well as madam Evelyn in her healing process.
As a responsible entity, Marwako fast food has since the unfortunate incident, taken steps to ensure that this does not happen again at any of our four (4) branches.
Our staff is one of our cherished assets, and it is essential for our staff members, regardless of position, to continue to work in harmony in a peaceful and respectful environment. As part of efforts to further strengthen the spirit of camaraderie amongst the staff, as well as their safety and security, seminars on internal relations, staff retreat, customer service delivery, interdepartmental communication and employer-employee relationship are currently underway.
Finally, we wish to express our profound gratitude to all those who stood firmly behind our strong brand during our most difficult period in the wake of our well-publicised fracas between two of our staff members.
We are particularly grateful to our loyal customers for their vehemence resistance of the attempt by some elements to damage our brand as a result of what happened.
What happened has been a learning curve for everyone at Marwako, and we will continue to improve and ensure the best for our staff members and patrons.
Thank you
Signed
Alhaji Mohammed Amin Lamptey
