Footballers are only human. The act of intercourse can tend to be something wonderful. It provides pleasure and also brings about offspring.

Indeed, it is an incredible part of life but just like fire, it can be a great servant but if it drives your every move, it stands a chance of being a terrible master.

We take a trip down memory lane as we look at scandals involving top football personalities.

Ordatey Lamptey

This was one that tested the ex-Blacksatrs midfielder’s infidelity, mental toughness, emotions and intelligence. Nii Ordartey Lamptey and his wife Gloria were married for 21 years with three daughters.  It seemed to be a marriage which seemed to be a successful all along until Gloria asked Nii to take one of her children to school abroad.

Nii Ordartey-Lamptey refused and the discussion ended with Gloria convinced that she wanted to file a divorce. Eventually, the case went to court and the adjudication took four years. Amidst those four years it was discovered that three children did not belong to Nii Ordartey Lamptey after a DNA test was conducted.

The judge who presided over the matter, Justice Cecilia Don-Chebe Agbevey ordered Gloria vacate the 7 bedroom house built by Ordartey Lamptey.

Gloria Appiah justified her three children out of wedlock by claiming the former Blackstars player was impotent. She also earlier got the court to evict Ordartey Lamptey out of his house by stating Ordartey Lamptey attempted to burn the house and kill the woman with the children. Ordartey Lamptey now has two children with Ruweida Yakubu and that alone rubbished the claims that he was impotent.

Gloria Appiah was given a property in Dome, Accra and some cash as compensation. The court advised Ordartey Lamptey could sue the ex-wife for damages but the legendary player said he prefers to move on.

Asamoah Gyan

The captain of the Ghana Black Stars has been in the national team since 2003 and since then has netted 51 goals in 105 appearances for the team. The 14 years of Gyan’s international career has had different forms of controversy and drama on and off the pitch. The one that really got the nation talking is that of a young lady called Sarah Kwabla and her sexual escapade with Asamoah Gyan. It was in February 2015 after the African Cup of Nations that year Gyan went to training and asked a social media friend to meet him at that location.

He introduced the girl as a friend to his colleagues after the work out. He then later went with to the girl who was later going to be found as Sarah Kwabla to her house. They had sex that very afternoon around 1pm and months later it was all over the place that Gyan forced Miss Kwabla to have sex with her.

It was in June 2015 that the news broke and that there was a sex tape as evidence by representatives of the lady. The lady’s representatives demanded a well furnished apartment, a housemaid and a monthly allowance of $1000 for antenatal care. Sarah Kwabla amazingly turned out to be pregnant after sex through her anus.

Asamoah Gyan did admit that he did publicly admit he had sex with the said lady but denied that it was done forcibly. It was later found out that it was a deliberate attempt to blackmail the striker and interestingly Sarah kwabla claimed to have a miscarriage when it was time for the young lady to render results of a paternity test.

Jordan Ayew and Afriyie Acquah

The Black Stars duo got themselves in a love triangle with the ex-wife of the latter. Afriyie Acquah got married to the ex-wife of billionaire Kenpong in 2014. A while into the marriage a recording of the lady in question was released as she spoke on her relationship with Jordan Ayew and also calling her husband at the time, a monkey.

She did say she had known the now Swansea striker from a very young age and her husband being jealous was always furious when he saw the two them close to each other. Afriyie Acquah and Amanda did split three years later after their marriage. We are yet to see what the future holds in the lives of these football stars and this female personality.

Micheal Essien and Stephen Appiah

There was a time the Ghana Black Stars was blessed with a midfield quartet of Laryea Kingston, Sulley Muntari, Micheal Essien and Stephen Appiah. The latter two were rumored to not have the best of relationships in their latter days in the Black Stars. This because news broke that Akosua Puni who is the wife and manager of Micheal Essien had an affair with the former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah.

This scandal is totally based on rumor and no substantive evidence has been able to prove that such a thing did occur.

As a matter fact, Stephen Appiah places Akosua Puni in high regard considering how supportive she has been in Essien’s career.

In 2011, Appiah did speak to the media after an MTN FA cup trophy tour and made it known that looking at how the lady has run the Essien Foundation and successfully managed the player she deserves to be lauded not criticized.
