The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced that the Kingdom of Morocco has donated 2,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser to Ghana to support efforts aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening food security under the government’s flagship Feed Ghana initiative.
The donation, which is the second in a series, was formally presented at a brief ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, said the gesture underscores the growing bilateral relations between Ghana and Morocco, as well as their shared commitment to enhancing agricultural resilience and food security, particularly amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
He noted that John Dramani Mahama is prioritising investments in agriculture through initiatives such as the Feed Ghana Programme, irrigation systems, improved seedlings, and the “Nkoko Nkitinkiti” programme to boost local production.
According to him, the fertiliser donation comes at a critical time as the country intensifies efforts to increase agricultural output and strengthen its food security capacity.
In recent years, Ghana and Morocco have deepened cooperation across multiple sectors, with agriculture emerging as a key area of partnership. Morocco, which possesses some of the world’s largest phosphate reserves and is a leading global fertiliser producer, continues to position itself as a strategic partner for African countries seeking to improve agricultural productivity.
