Director General of the National Sports Authority, Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah has asserted that the timing for the National Sports Festival was perfect.
The National Sports Festival which is organized by the National Sports Authority and Ministry of Youth and Sports, was revived this year after six years of going into hibernation at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and most people lauded the its revival but have questioned the timing of the festival because the Black Stars had two crucial World Cup qualifiers in that same week and aside that, Ghana is also hosting the WAFU Cup so the competition couldn’t get the attention it deserved.
Speaking on Happy FM, Hon.Robert Sarfo Mensah revealed that they did careful analysis of the timing before arriving the date for the event.
“The timing has helped us a lot because we needed to do this program to learn from it so we can improve on next year’s. The more you organize such events, the better your advantage of identifying the mistakes and the challenges. It has given us a fair idea about how to put some things in place to make it better in the subsequent years so the timing was okay. We are not worried at all. He told Happy FM.
Ten (10) out of forty four (44) sporting disciplines including women football took part in the festival. The competition started from the 1st of September and ended on the 6th of September.
