The Sly Tetteh Legacy Forum has been launched, with the maiden edition set for Friday September 22, six years after the demise of the astute football administrator.
The event, which will be an annual lecture series, was initiated by SPORTSLIFE, an amalgamated group of stakeholders in Ghana sports.
Speaking at the on-air launch on Happy FM, Charles Aryeh, ex National Sports Authority boss and current Director of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, eulogized Alhaji Sly Tetteh for his contribution to Ghana and the African continent by extension.
“This initiative of an annual lecture series in honour of the late Sly Tetteh is long overdue but thanks to SPORTSLIFE, the maiden edition is set to come off on Friday September 22. I worked with him closely from the the inception of Liberty Professionals and his football administration skills were beyond measure. He changed the fortunes of several footballers and revolutionalised the modern game.
“When we reminiscent our first World Cup qualification in 2006, Sly Tetteh readily comes to mind as we mention players like Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Derrick Boateng, Emmanuel Addoquaye Pappoe and John Paintsil.” Mr. Aryeh said on Happy FM.
Giving further elaboration on the lecture series, Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, the organizing committee member in charge of marketing, corroborated that he learnt a lot from Sly Tetteh as an administrator and holds that this event must be given the necessary support by everyone due to the sort of impact that he made prior to his demise.
The Organizing Committee member in charge of Operations and Coordination, Nathaniel Laryea revealed that CAF president Ahmad Ahmad has expressed his elation at being the Guest Speaker for the maiden edition of The Sly Tetteh Legacy Forum.
“CAF president Ahmad Ahmad has wholly accepted to join the September 22nd lecture series as the Guest Speaker and has expressed his elation at the opportunity to eulogise his friend Sly Tetteh whom he worked with at Tamale during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. Sierra Leonean FA president, Isha Johansen and the Benin FA Anjorin Moucharafou have all confirmed their active participation in the Legacy Forum because of their close association with Sly Tetteh.” Nat Laryea intimated.
He added that this initiative is driven out of the desire to honor the memory of the late Ibrahim Sly Tetteh, a visionary football administrator, businessman and philanthropist.
The event will come off on Friday September 22nd at the plush Tang Place Hotel from 6:00pm and Ghana Football Association president, Kwesi Nyantakyi will be the main speaker.
