A female Chinese national, Lucy Tang, has been arrested by the police in Kumasi for allegedly selling guns without authorisation.

The suspect, a resident at South Patasi, a suburb of Kumasi was arrested last Friday upon a tip off.
She was arrested together with her Ghanaian accomplice, Felix Debrah, who claimed ownership of the guns but failed to produce a document to back his claim.
Items retrieved
The police retrieved four pump action guns, two foreign pistols, one Sig Sauer Rifle, 70 rounds of 380 auto ammunitions, 37 pieces of 22 ammunition and 11 different Chinese passports.
Briefing
Briefing the press, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Osei Kofi Ampofo-Duku, said on October 28, 2016, the police picked up information that a Chinese lady was offering dangerous weapons for sale to members of the public.
He said she was trailed to Ingot Hotel at Danyame where she was identified and when her car was searched, the four pump action guns and the Sig Sauer rifle were found.
According to him, the items were recovered from her house at South Patasi.
Ownership
According to the police, Ms Tang told the police that the pump action guns were given to her by a Ghanaian and that it is only the Sig Sauer Rifle that belonged to her while the foreign pistol belonged to her brother, one Sun Yun Chang.
Mr Ampofo-Duku said during investigation, Felix Debrah showed up claiming ownership of the four pump action guns but could not produce any document to support his claim.
He said a search in Debra’s house at Kotwi Kyekyewere revealed eight BB cartridges.
