Social media sensation, Obaapa Gladys who went viral with what is said to be an experimental song with “Nipa No Bi Y3 Cobra,” has disclosed that she knew her debut song was going to be an instant hit after release.

She shared that the release of the song was premature and an attempt to make a mockery of her talent.

“I knew the song was going to be a hit song. ‘Cobra’ was posted on social media to make a mockery of me but surprisingly it’s my biggest blessing,” she said.

The Ghanaian songstress, in an exclusive interview on Happy 98.9’s “Happy Evening Drive” with Akua Sika shared that she owes her musical journey to God’s grace.

She said, “My music career has only been by the mercies and grace of God. Not everyone is this fortunate in the Ghanaian gospel industry. I am thankful to God for the breakthrough and I am enthused about my career moving forward.”

Responding to the motivation behind the song, she continued, “Our pastors in church usually preach about friendship and the downside of it. I composed the song with the same message in mind.”

“The preacher in the church and myself are doing the work of God. We are both telling Christians to be careful because anyone can be a cobra in their lives,” she added.

Obaapa Gladys further expressed her gratitude and acknowledged the support from Ghanaians. She also hinted at the release of more exciting projects in the coming days.
