NDC MP justifies party’s manifesto launch timing

The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central Constituency, Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah has dismissed claims that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not a serious party for delaying the launch of its manifesto until after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) launched theirs.

He explained that, like a military officer preparing for battle, the NDC needs to carefully plan and strategize to win.
Mr. Kwakye-Ackah emphasized that the party is not concerned about public opinion on this matter.

He highlighted that whenever Mr. Mahama speaks, he presents clear policies, and criticized the NPP for their excessive noise-making despite having governed for eight years with little to show for it.

He questioned the tangible benefits Ghana has received from the much-touted digitization efforts led by Dr. Bawumia, accusing him of taking credit for the government’s achievements while trying to distance himself from its failures.

Mr. Kwakye-Ackah argued that Dr. Bawumia cannot escape responsibility and should not be trusted with the opportunity to do more.

The NPP launched its manifesto for the 2024 elections on Sunday, August 18, 2024, in Takoradi, outlining the party’s policies should they be re-elected.

Meanwhile, the NDC has scheduled its manifesto launch for August 24 in Winneba. However, some Ghanaians, including Samuel Koku Anyidoho, have criticized the timing, arguing that a serious opposition leader, particularly a former president, should not allow the ruling party to release its manifesto first describing Mr. Mahama as a joker, claiming that the NDC’s manifesto would offer nothing new.

In contrast, Mr. Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah holds a different opinion, defending the NDC’s approach and readiness.
