Special Aide to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Joyce Bawah Mogtari has condemned President Akufo-Addo’s comments during his visit to the Upper East Region, describing them as utterly mind-boggling.

She argues that the president’s remarks highlight a significant disconnect from the harsh realities faced by Ghanaians, particularly those in northern Ghana.

In his address, President Akufo-Addo criticized NDC’s John Dramani Mahama, urging voters to support Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the candidate capable of continuing the progress made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He suggested that the NDC’s position on the ballot, especially the selection of number 8, would be detrimental to the opposition party in the upcoming elections.

In a post shared on X on October 3, Madam Mogtari emphasized that the pressing challenges faced by citizens in the Upper East Region, such as economic hardships and inadequate infrastructure, sharply contrast the president’s overly optimistic remarks. She contended that the president’s failure to acknowledge these issues reflects a lack of understanding and empathy for the everyday struggles of ordinary Ghanaians.

Madam Mogtari further criticized the president’s approach, asserting that true leadership should focus on addressing the people’s concerns.

She called for a more compassionate and responsive government that actively engages with citizens to identify solutions to their challenges, rather than making comments that fail to resonate with the lived experiences of Ghanaians. As the 2024 election approaches, she urged the public to recognize the need for change in leadership, asserting that an NDC administration would prioritize the welfare of all citizens, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
