The Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress- Ghana has announced its plan to embark on an indefinite strike action effective Monday November 18, 2024, over government’s prolonged delay in concluding, signing and implementing the conditions of service.

According to them, this issue has been pending for years despite several reviews of negotiations.

“ It is worrying that the issue regarding the various Condition of Service, of our members, have been dragging for years”.

“The expectation of TEWU members, was that these documents should have been implemented by now”.

The Union in a statement, stressed that, members cannot continue to work under certain conditions of service with the academic year beginning.

“Unfortunately, for the past four years, it has rather been back and forth with the government agencies.
With the new academic year underway, especially, the admission process for first-year students, our members cannot continue to work under uncertain Conditions of Service”.

TEWU mentioned that, affected members under the union include the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ghana Library Authority, the Museums and Monuments Board, as well as the Public Technical Universities and Public Universities,.
