The People’s National Party (PNP) has announced its decision to remain non-aligned in Ghana’s 2024 general elections, set to take place on Saturday, December 7.

This move they said underscores the party’s dedication to its core principles of prioritizing the welfare of vulnerable citizens above partisan interests.

“The People’s National Party (PNP) wishes to announce its decision to remain non-aligned in the
upcoming 2024 general election, scheduled for this Saturday. This decision reflects our unwavering commitment to our principles and mission of prioritizing the welfare of the vulnerable over partisan interests,” part of the statement read.

A statement signed and released on Thursday, December 5, by the Chairperson and Leader of the party, Janet Asana Nabla reaffirmed the party’s stance to abstain from endorsing any candidate. The party has instead urged Ghanaians, especially its members, to seek divine guidance in choosing a leader capable of addressing the country’s pressing challenges.

The PNP also emphasized the need for the Electoral Commission to ensure a transparent, fair, and credible election process. The party highlighted the commission’s pivotal role in safeguarding public trust and maintaining the integrity of Ghana’s democracy.

Additionally, the party appealed to media organizations to practice responsible and impartial reporting during the election period. According to the PNP, balanced media coverage is crucial in fostering national unity and providing accurate information to voters.
