Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South Constituency, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije , has described the Akufo-Addo-led government as a “hopeless situation.” Speaking on Happy 98.9 FM’s “Epa Hoa Daben” show with Bismark Brown, he emphasized that the last eight years under President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia have been marked by suffering and hardship for Ghanaians.

“It was a hopeless situation,” Okoe Vanderpuije  stated. “People were suffering, unable to afford food, and were unemployed. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) had to bring back hope to Ghanaians.”

He assured Ghanaians that the election of John Dramani Mahama as President will bring a new wave of hope to the country. “With His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, there is hope. We will enjoy a 24-hour economy, creating jobs for people.”

Okoe Vanderpuije’s comments come after the Electoral Commission declared John Dramani Mahama the President-elect of Ghana, having secured 56.55% of the total valid votes cast. Mahama’s campaign promise of a 24-hour economy has generated significant expectations among Ghanaians, who await his swearing-in on January 7, 2025.
