Minister-designate for the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has called on Ghanaians to support made-in-Ghana products to help achieve the NDC’s mission of reducing importation.

Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare emphasized that the funds spent on imports contribute to the trade deficit, increasing foreign exchange expenditure.

She advocated for the consumption of locally produced foods, noting that this would boost employment and government revenue. “If we eat what we grow, our importation will come down,” she stated.

Recounting her time at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Techiman North MP highlighted her previous efforts in promoting made-in-Ghana goods and expressed her commitment to expanding this initiative if approved by the Appointments Committee after her vetting.

She urged Ghanaians to adopt a culture of supporting locally made goods. “I want to encourage Ghanaians to wear what we produce, patronize made-in-Ghana goods. If that happens, again, our importation of these foreign stuff will be minimal,” she affirmed.
