Member of Parliament for Old Tafo constituency, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has defended his decision to take legal action against the NDC administration amid mass criticism for speaking against the recent revocation of all appointments made after December 7, 2024 by the Chief of Staff.

The NPP MP brought out an official statement on Wednesday to speak against the decision made by the government and also to rally all affected persons to engage a writ in the court of law against the government’s decision.

Assafuah, who has been labelled a ‘hypocrite’ for speaking against the decision of government on account of a similar incident happening in January 2017 told the press that many critics are failing to understand the context of each incident.

He defended his stance citing the appointment of district directors of the National Service Scheme given appointment letters without going through the requisite steps.”

” There should have been an advert for a period of time, that advert should have warranted a constitution of the panel from the public services commission, and that panel must have conducted an interview which must have led to a shortlisting of qualified persons and those qualified persons must have been given appointment letters. If any of these processes are missing in the chain, it does not make it legal.” he explained.

He added that other public service areas such as SSNIT which had followed the right procedures maintained their appointments. “The two scenarios the 2017 and the 2025 one are two distinguishable matters…even though Osafo-Maafo said it, it was not practicalized because people failed to understand the context to which he put his statement that persons who did not go through the right procedures indeed will have their appointments terminated.”
