Minister for Trade and AgriBusiness, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has shared plans of the ministry to optimize dealings of Ghana’s private sector, particularly in the area of business establishment.

She acknowledged the challenges stakeholders and investors from the private sector tend to face in establishing businesses in Ghana. According to the minister, the persistent challenge for most business owners are the acquisition of permits from the requisite agencies to back the official establishment of their businesses.

However, Madam Ofosu-Adjare spoke about the ministry’s commitment to halt the delay and make registration as seamless as possible through collaboration between these agencies and the Ministry of Trade and AgriBusiness.

“One thing I’m also willing to work with is the coordination within the agencies. The Ministry of Trade, AgriBusiness and Industry has the BRR unit. That unit coordinates registration and things like that.” she stated.

She further noted that the Ministry is soon to present an act that will demand that all agencies are held by law to provide the necessary permits for stakeholders in the sector to legally establish their businesses.

“They don’t have the backing so we are coming up with an act to make sure that the things they ask for, the agencies are required by law to provide for them. If it happens like that business can be done expeditiously.”
