The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of an application seeking to halt President John Dramani Mahama and the Council of State from determining whether there is a prima facie case in petitions calling for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

The case, originally scheduled for April 16, has been adjourned to May 6 due to the absence of one of the presiding judges, His Lordship Samuel Asiedu.

Presiding Judge, Prof. Henrietta Mensah Bonsu, explained that the adjournment was unavoidable, citing logistical challenges.

The application was filed by Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, who argues that the Chief Justice should have been given an opportunity to respond to allegations before the President consulted the Council of State, as outlined in Article 146 (6) of the 1992 Constitution.
