The Ghana Embassy in Washington, D.C. is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, May 29, following its temporary closure for a major systems overhaul and structural reforms aimed at restoring integrity and accountability in its operations.

A team of seasoned diplomats, led by an experienced official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been deployed to manage the embassy and ensure the necessary restructuring is completed.

Additionally, an Information Technology (IT) team has been tasked with reconfiguring the embassy’s website and payment platforms, removing all unauthorized links that were previously associated with its IT systems.

The closure, announced on May 26, followed an audit report revealing fraudulent activities, including unauthorized fees being charged through unofficial channels.

The Ministry has referred the matter to the Auditor-General and Attorney-General for further investigation and appropriate sanctions.

The Ministry assured the public that measures have been put in place to clear any backlog of consular services and minimize disruption caused by the temporary suspension.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing service delivery, ensuring transparency, and protecting Ghana’s diplomatic reputation.
