President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that, under his government payment to road contractors would not be an issue as the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassie Ato Forson is committed to releasing funding for projects.

Speaking during his Thank You Tour at Sunyani Jubilee Park, Bono Region, he addressed concern about stalled road projects in the Bono Region, promising a renewed commitment to infrastructure development.

Mahama acknowledged the frustration of residents over incomplete roads, isolated communities, and delayed development, attributing the stagnation to the change in government in 2017.

He assured the people of Bono Region that these projects would be revived under his administration.

“Several important roads were initiated during my previous administration. Unfortunately, the change of government in 2017 caused most of these projects to stall. Many of them stand incomplete and abandoned.”

He criticized past administrations for failing to deliver on their 10,000-kilometer road promise, emphasizing that critical projects such as the Sunyani inner and outer ring roads, Alaska Catholic University road, Berekum-Sampa road, Sampa-Wenchi road, Odumasi-Badu road, Sunyani-Techiman road, and Kumasi-Sunyani road had all been factored into his Big Push Infrastructure Program.

“These roads have been prioritized under our Big Push Infrastructure Program, and I am happy to announce that the Minister of Finance has made adequate financial provisions for them”.

Mahama further pledged of swift payments to contractors.

“Every contractor working under the Big Push, when he raises a certificate for payment, within two weeks, he will receive his money”.
