Take Ofori-Atta to court if he's to be killed, then kill him – John Boadu to OSP

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has called on the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to take legal action against former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta if they believe they have sufficient evidence against him.

His comments follow a press conference held on Monday, June 2, 2025, during which the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, announced that Mr. Ofori-Atta had been declared wanted after failing to appear before the OSP to answer questions related to several high-profile investigations.

These include matters involving the Strategic Mobilization-GRA contract, the termination of the ECG-BXC contract, payments made towards the National Cathedral, the ambulance procurement contract, and the utilization of the Tax Refund Account.

Speaking in an interview, John Boadu stressed that if the OSP truly possesses evidence implicating Mr. Ofori-Atta, the proper course of action is to present the case in court.

He stated that if the OSP presents the case in court and Mr. Ofori-Atta is found guilty, and the court orders his execution, then they can go ahead, arrest him, and carry out the sentence, adding that this would be a better approach than the current actions being taken.

“If you believe he’s guilty, then take him to court. If the court finds him responsible and orders for him to be killed, then you can find a way to arrest and kill him,” he said.

He further criticized the OSP’s handling of the matter, suggesting that it is unfair to subject Mr. Ofori-Atta to public disgrace, especially at his age. Boadu questioned the portrayal of the former minister as someone in hiding abroad, implying that no one would willingly endure such embarrassment without a serious reason, such as illness.

Mr. Boadu urged the OSP to pursue legal channels regardless of Mr. Ofori-Atta’s current location.

“Whether he is in Ghana or not, the OSP can still take the matter to court. That should be the focus, not this public spectacle,” he added.
