Bibiani GoldStars pulled off an impressive 2-1 comeback victory over Asante Kotoko in their GHALCA Top 4 clash on Wednesday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Kotoko took the lead in the 16th minute through Albert Amoah, raising hopes of a strong start for the Porcupine Warriors. However, Bibiani GoldStars quickly responded as Samuel Atta Kumi converted from the spot in the 22nd minute to draw level.
The decisive moment came in the second half when Kotoko defender Henry Ansu turned the ball into his own net in the 63rd minute, handing GoldStars the lead. Despite late pressure from Kotoko, GoldStars held on to seal all three points.
The result gives Bibiani GoldStars a perfect start to the pre-season tournament, while Kotoko will be aiming to bounce back in their next fixture against Heart of Lions on Friday August 22.
