The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tema West Constituency, Kwasi Poku, has expressed confidence that former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, is the best candidate to lead the party into the 2028 general elections, a belief he says has been affirmed by the outcome of Friday’s balloting exercise.

Speaking in an interview with Happyghana.com after the balloting for presidential aspirants ahead of the party’s January 31, 2026 primaries, held at the NPP Headquarters in Asylum Down in Accra, Mr. Poku said Kennedy Agyapong’s position as number one on the ballot paper is a clear sign that he is destined to lead the NPP.

“Being number one on the ballot paper is no coincidence. It is a sign that Kennedy Agyapong is the chosen one to lead our great party,” he said.

He explained that the number one position carries strong symbolism and easy recognition, which will make it easier for delegates to vote for Kennedy Agyapong.

“Everyone knows number one from the young to the old. ‘Abrewa bia nim one’ – It’s a simple, clear, and powerful number. When people go to vote, they won’t struggle to find it,” he emphasized.

Mr. Poku further revealed that the campaign team is prepared to intensify its grassroots mobilization to secure victory for the Assin Central MP in the upcoming primaries.

He called on all party members and delegates to rally behind Kennedy Agyapong, whom he described as a bold, visionary, and results-oriented leader capable of taking the NPP and Ghana to greater heights.
