Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori hasn’t given up on his World Cup dream, but he knows the road back to the Black Stars starts with consistent performances at club level.

Speaking to iDiski Times, the AmaZulu shot-stopper admitted that while the dream of representing Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup still burns bright, his main focus is helping his club climb the South African Premier League table.

“I’m working hard and focusing on my club at the moment. That’s what you need to do if you want to be there [at the World Cup],” Ofori said with calm determination.

The 31-year-old, who last featured for Ghana in 2023, revealed he hasn’t spoken to head coach Otto Addo recently but insists there’s mutual respect.

“No, I haven’t spoken to the coach recently. But before, he used to check on players. He’s a good man. He hasn’t abandoned anyone; he’s just focusing more on those actively playing, especially with how intense the qualifiers were.”

Ofori faces strong competition for a national team recall, with Benjamin Asare currently the Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper and Lawrence Ati-Zigi close behind.

Still, every clean sheet, every diving save, and every 90 minutes for AmaZulu keeps Ofori’s dream alive, a return to the Ghana jersey and one final shot at football’s biggest stage.
