The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dissociated itself from comments made by the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, describing them as unfortunate and inconsistent with the party’s values.

The MP had reportedly referred to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as “an alien and a stranger” during a radio discussion.

In a statement signed by the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity, equality, and national unity. It emphasized that the MP’s comments do not reflect the official position of the NPP.

“The NPP believes that every Ghanaian, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or social background, must have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the governance and development of our nation,” the statement said.

The party reiterated that membership and recognition within its ranks are determined by loyalty, dedication, and service to its ideals and the national interest not by personal attributes or identity.

The NPP assured the public that it remains committed to upholding the dignity of all citizens while promoting a political culture rooted in tolerance, mutual respect, and inclusiveness.
