The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has successfully held its 2025 Operational Efficiency Training Programme aimed at strengthening service delivery and ensuring effective 24-hour emergency response across the country.

A statement released indicates the two-day programme, held on December 18 and 19, 2025, at the GNAT Hall in Accra, was organised under the theme “Enhancing the Operational Efficiency of National Ambulance Service for Effective 24-Hour Service.”

It brought together Board Members, Management, and Regional leadership of the Service from across Ghana for in-depth discussions on improving institutional effectiveness and operational performance.

The training focused on enhancing leadership alignment with NAS’s core mandate of saving lives, while exploring strategies to improve efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness in emergency medical services.

Delivering a welcome address, the Board Chairman of the Service, Nana Baffour Kotei Kutin Sraman II, commended Management and staff for their dedication and hard work.

He urged personnel to continue serving humanity with commitment while projecting a positive image of the National Ambulance Service.

The Chief Executive Officer of NAS, Dr. George Kojo Owusu, advised participants particularly Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to place high importance on proper documentation of emergency cases.

He noted that accurate record-keeping is essential in helping personnel account for their actions and defend themselves when the need arises.

Key sessions on the second day of the programme addressed critical areas shaping the future of the Service.

These included legal regulations and ethical considerations for NAS operations, clinical audit processes, strategic and innovative leadership, corporate governance, and sustainable financial pathways for strengthening emergency medical services in Ghana.

Other sessions focused on leveraging information and communication technology (ICT) for efficient ambulance operations, enhancing community emergency response through Community Medical First Responders, and examining the implications of the 2026 tax reforms for the Service.

Through interactive presentations and practical engagements, participants reaffirmed their commitment to continuous improvement, responsible leadership, and excellence in emergency medical service delivery.

The National Ambulance Service reiterated its dedication to improving emergency response systems nationwide, emphasizing that timely care remains critical to saving lives.
