“Chieftaincy Ministry does not recognise ‘Okyehene’ as ‘Omanhene” – Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng

President of the Concerned Youth of Ashanti Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng, has made a shocking revelation about, the title ‘Okyehene’ that it does not exist in the books of the Chieftaincy Ministry.
According to him, the Chieftaincy Ministry only recognizes the title, Akyem Abuakwamanhene, for the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area while the Asantehene rules over a Kingdom.
Dr. Boateng speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show said, “They always want to compare the paramount chief of Akyem Abuakwa to the Asante Kingdom, which is impossible. When you go into chieftaincy – I’ve worked with the Chieftaincy Ministry as a registrar – we don’t even have anything called ‘Okyehene’ but we have Akyem Abuakwamanhene.”
He explained that the Akyems have three clans. “We have Akyem Kotoku which is a paramount, we have Akyem Abuakwa, it is a paramount; and Akyem Bosome and they are all paramountcy”, but, he added: “The Asante King rules over a kingdom not small area.”
A week ago, Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was furious  to see NPP officials at the Manhyia Palace, because the Asantehene said that Gabby Otchere Darko, Asante Bediatuo and other top government officials are pitching him against the Akyems – native town of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Osagyefuo Nana Amoatia Ofori Panin is the 35th King to have ascended the throne referred to as the Ofori Panin Stool on October 4th 1999, on the passing on of his predecessor and brother, Nana Kuntunkununku II.
