Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC ), Duncan Amoah, has said that government must thoroughly investigate circumstances surrounding the use of forged documents by Power Distribution Services (PDS) to win the concession bid.

According to Duncan Amoah, the way and manner government is handling the whole the PDS fraudulent allegation is problematic and that the government of the day is gradually annoying Ghanaians.

His assertion comes on the back of press statement released Thursday that PDS will still provide all activities relating to electricity retail as an interim arrangement.

Joint statement by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and PDS said the interim arrangement is “to ensure that there is no disruption of power supply and service delivery” to customers.
But speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show with Kwame Afrifa-Mensah Mr. Amoah said, “What the government is doing, it is irritating Ghanaians, When the time is due, the people will raise up. The government is accumulating debt in the energy sector and they will share it on tax for the people to pay.”

He hinted of a demonstration they are planning to embark on.“Government is using PDS to rob Ghanaians. At a point when we are forced to believe that they are not talking in favour of us we will mass up at the ministry and e will sleep there with them until they address the situation. But for now, we are giving them one month.”

The government on Tuesday decided to suspend a concessionary agreement with PDS for distribution of power in Ghana, with immediate effect following what it said was the discovery “of fundamental and material breaches of PDS’ obligation in the provision of Payment Securities (Demand Guarantees).

Details of the alleged breach revealed that the Management/Directors of PDS, Meralco Consortium, IFC and other persons forged a document to finally get their deal.
