NPP, NDC diverting the minds of Ghanaians from the issues -Ivor Greenstreet

Flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party, Ivor Greenstreet has asserted that the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress are grounding their discussions on issues which will not affect the standard of living of Ghanaians.

According to him, it will be better if the two parties will focus on issues such as employment opportunities, basic healthcare, among other things rather than focus on which party achieved more in infrastructural development.

In an interview with Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, he stated: “The conversation on infrastructure is just a temporary conversation that they are having among themselves. I can remember that the presidential candidate and the former president his excellency John Agyekum Kufuor at a point in time, when the NDC was talking about their great infrastructural achievements, they said that Ghanaians do not eat roads and that it will not have an impact on how Ghanaians will vote.

Ghanaians do not vote based on infrastructure basis. They vote based on very personal economic conditions, on the basis that they have employment, and on the basis that they can access basic quality healthcare. Ghanaians vote based on the opportunity they have to get employment and so there are so many things that they [NDC and NPP] are diverting the attention of the ordinary Ghanaians from”.

The CPP flag bearer, however, assured that his party will focus on the issues as he said: “We shall redirect the focus of the minds of Ghanaians to these particular issues so that they will accept and understand this issues and courage in that direction is needed”.

Speaking on what Ghanaians should expect in the CPP’s manifesto he announced, “We believe it is important to create a Ghanaian dream that allows every single citizen the chance to achieve and reach their individual potential. We want a society where the harder you work, the greater your chance of succeeding”.

The debate over which political party had achieved more in infrastructural development was inflamed when Vice President Dr.Bawumia addressed the country on the infrastructural development by the ruling NPP. Some of his submissions were challenged by the opposition NDC that even the flagbearer of the party challenged the Akufo-Addo-led government to a debate over infrastructure in order to settle the issue of whose government has performed well in the area of infrastructure.

However, the NPP’s National Organizer, Mr. Sammy Awuku, has said that President Akufo-Addo will not debate Mr Mahama.
