Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Kojo Yankah, says it is shocking to see some Executive Council members who complained about the ex-gratia being paid under the old administration now mute over the new allowances approved by Congress.

The GFA Congress on Tuesday approved the new allowances proposed by the ad-hoc compensation committee to be paid to top officials of the association.

In the new allowance approved, the GFA president Kurt Okraku will earn GHC 12,000 monthly allowance, followed by the Vice president Mark Addo receiving GHC 7,000 and each Executive Council member receiving GHC 4000.

Owner and bankroller of King Faisal Babes, Alhaji Karim Grunsah at the Congress opposed the decision to raise the allowances as proposed by the compensation committee.

Grunsah proposed that the GFA president be paid GHC 1000 per month instead of the GHC 12,000 but he was overruled by a majority decision.

Kojo Yankah currently based in the USA, says it worrying that some Executive Council members who benefited from the $15,000 ex-gratia under Kwasi Nyantakyi’s tenure are not complaining about the current allowances they will be receiving.

“I don’t have any problem Congress agreed, I even commend them but the Executive Council members who spoke against $15,000 but are now taking $44,000 and see nothing wrong is my headache”, he told Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Wamputu Sports on Happy 98.9 FM.

“When we were criticized for taking ex-gratia that time, Oduro Sarfo didn’t tell them to shut up so why is he saying we should shut up now”, he added.

The new allowances were approved by the majority of clubs that attended the Congress held on Tuesday.
